Though winter is at the bottom of my favorite seasons list, I am learning something new this year. Choosing to go gently into the new year as the result of an epiphany shortly before midnight on December 31st, (Read all about the epiphany HERE) also brought with it another invitation.

Full disclosure: the invitation is not new, because God extended the invitation to me last summer, however, coupled with a gentle, slower pace, pursuing the invitation becomes easier.

In answer to a prayer for deeper intimacy with God, and a desire to perceive Him clearly within my days, God invited me into the pursuit of wonder.

Even in my random efforts at pursuing wonder two things became clear: the first was you cannot pursue wonder in a hurry, and second, pursuing wonder also reveals a keener awareness of God’s presence.

Leaving my self-improvement tool belt behind along with new year’s resolutions, and weighty goals, I found less self-focus and more God and others focus. When my time is not supercharged with achievements, I am free to listen more, love more, and wonder more.
